What is Capoeira?
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, music, and cultural ritual. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil as a form of resistance disguised as dance.
Today, Capoeira is practiced worldwide and is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It creates a unique environment where participants learn Portuguese naturally through songs and interaction.
The roda (circle) is where Capoeira comes alive — with music, singing, movement, and most importantly, a rich vocabulary of Portuguese expressions that tell stories of Brazilian history and culture.
